When an academic researcher decides to venture on to the labor market they need to be familiar with their own skills and competencies and be able to communicate them. Many academics are good at indicating what (scientific) knowledge they have and what methodological skills they have developed, but are less able to verbalize their social, communicative and managerial qualities. These are, however, competencies that can be applied in many situations and are called transferable skills. For example, if you are experienced in completing a thesis on time, applying for a subsidy, organizing a conference or directing and supervising others, you probably have some interesting transferable skills. In this workshop researchers are given some practical exercises to gain insight into their skills, and then learn how to present these with attractive examples during job interviews.
